Some Configuration Manager consoles specifically offer Microsoft System Center 2012's Remote Controlviewer. This article describes how to use the mobile version of the Remote Control viewer on iOS.
Conveniently, the mobile Remote Control viewer opens in the device area of the console regardless of what the selected device is. Alternatively, you can open it from the Device Definitions area on the right side of the console.
Below the opening screen for the Mobile Remote Control viewer shows the list of current devices. To the left of the list, the user can select the computer they would like to control. So far, this is limited to only Windows operating systems, only Windows Server operating systems, and to only computers located on the local network.
If the user does not select an operating system, an unattended setup will be started so that the computer gets a fully functional and working Configuration Manager Client Agent installed on it. IMPORTANT: The setup file is pretty large. If you are working on a remote device, make sure you have enough space on the computer to run the setup. This is a one way trip: once the setup has been ran, it will be permanent and cannot be removed.
Users can also control other Windows Operating Systems by selecting Other, if the software is found on the Windows system. If the software is not found on the local network, the user will be prompted to install it manually using a Web browser. The default installation of Configuration Manager Client Agent can be downloaded for free at
The Configuration Manager client is installed on the client's machine. The client runs a module, cmrcservice on the user account with which the remote control session will be opened and is not required to have administrative privileges on the computer (as long as your line-of-business users can install the client on their own computers). By default, clients are protected behind a firewall, but they can be opened explicitly by a user in the event one of your remote users requires access to a restricted website or application. d2c66b5586
